Garrison Brothers Bourbon SiB 6627 & Small Batch 2020 HEADS UP REVIEW

Handcrafted Bourbon Whiskey Custom Bottle Gifts WhiskeyGifter.com

Product: Garrison Brothers Small Batch 94 proof

Notes: I expected the small batch to hit harder considering the $90 pricetag, but it does go down very nicely. CONS: not overly complex, drinks like a youthful 3-4 yr bourbon PROS: Well balanced with a great nose. Everything just works together beautifully in the glass from a balance perspective, you taste what you actually smell and it all transitions nicely while drinking.

Fair Bottle Value: $55 (MSRP: $85)

Color: amber

Nose: tobacco, cherry, smokey oak, brown sugar, bananna

Palate: cherry, oak, vanilla

Finish: medium : cherry, oak, hint of pepper tapers down quickly with a nice coat to the roof and middle of tongue

Rating: 4/5

Recommend : Yes : If dollars aren't an obstacle for your budget, this is abeautiful bottle design and an easy sipping small batch that is done well. If you can't get this served at a local bar, you will likely appreciate the craftsmanship of the liquid inside and beautiful display bottle

---------------

Product: Garrison Brothers Single Barrel #6627 94 proof

Notes: CONS: With an MSRP of $110, I can't imagine why you would prefer this over $55 Old Forester (anything) unless you really admire the beautiful bottle housing the liquid. That sounds harsh, but it is a true statement when comparing value vs. experience. I do appreciate that smaller distilleries such as this will never compete with the mammoth distilleries in KY anytime soon for price, but this seems a bit excessive to me in this case. PROS: It has a very complex nose, but also very light aromas that you will dig for. It opens up over time in the glass. I gave this 20 min. to breathe before the review and it continued to open up for another 20 minutes during. I really appreciate the sweet sugary aromas on the nose that are close to a cookie or cake batter, that is unique and rare in and of itself and worthy of mention.

Fair Bottle Value: $45

Color: light amber

Nose: vanilla, sugar cookie, dark cherry, oak, tobacco

Palate: tart cherry, vanilla, leather, oak

Finish : short & dry : vanilla, pepper,  oak

Rating: 3.5/5

Recommend: I would strongly urge getting a 2oz pour at your local bar before paying retail. Not super complex, but has a good nose and interesting palate. The shorter finish tapers off to a dry oak and hint of pepper like a youthful bourbon.
