For many, this high proof release is very difficult to find and obtain at reasonable prices. It is absolutely fantastic, "Wisdom" in a glass. The rich aromas on the nose will remind you of a very old library with century old leather bound books & chairs.  The perfect slow sipper for a campfire or sitting on a rocking chair porch any time of year!  Batch #14 is 130.2 proof, long finish and definitely to be enjoyed very slowly.  - toasted marshmallow, toffee, dark chocolate, anise, rich leather, tobacco, burnt buttered toast - Long oily finish. It was figured at .20x1galx100proof. Like all good tax strategies of the USG, they couldn't stop raising the rate and by 1865 it was set at $2 per gallon, making whiskey unattainable for most drinkers due to the very high price. In 1897 Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr worked with Secretary of the Treasury John Carlisle to have the  “Bottled in Bond Act of 1897" written into federal law. Bourbon Notes: This is a 90 proof straight bourbon, aged for a minimum of 10 years, that can be difficult to find for many. It has been winning awards for many years for good reasons. The Buffalo Trace distillery does an exceptional job keeping the flavor profile consistent year after year. Single barrel store picks are available, however it each run is technically a small batch product. Fair Bottle Value: $45 Nose: heavy grape aromas from the neck pour, carmel, toffee and slight marshmallow Palate: nice rich flavors of a grape jolly rancher or grape jelly, faint oak, leather & vanilla Finish: smooth medium finish where the grape dissapates into a nice oily, oak & carmel Cons: bottle neck pour experience is somewhat different if the bottle has been opened for several months.
